After yesterday discussed about Padang Food, now we will discuss about one of this food. Rendang!
Rendang is a traditional food from West Sumatera that use meat and coconut milk as the main ingredient. In addition, Rendang also contains a lot of seasoning spices.
The average Indonesian people liked this spicy food. You can also find rendang as the main menu of Rumah Makan Padang (Padang Restaurant) in Indonesia, Malaysia and other contries. Historically, rendang has existed since the 16th century. At this time, Minang people who migrate often bring rendang as stock as can be preserved for months. Therefore, now rendang had started to spread in Indonesia, Malaysia and surrounding area.
If you're cook rendang, it takes patience. rendang is usually cooked in a period of 4-5 hours. The stages, the pieces of meats slowly cooked in coconut milk and spices in perfect heat until almost all the liquid is gone, allowing the meat to absorb the spicy condiments. The cooking process changes from boiling to frying as the liquid evaporates. The slow cooking process allows the meat to absorb all the spices and to become tender. During the process, the meat in spicy coconut milk should be slowly and carefully stirred and turned over without burning or ruining the meat well until all the liquid evaporated.
